Lovely vintage bone china cup and saucer made by Royal Stafford, England. Bright red poinsettias, gold holly berries and leaves with a bright holiday red band.
Hand painted over transfer with extensive enamelled details. Very heavily gilded with notable gold filigree.
The burnished gold trim is striking. Likely dates from the 1940s. Typical fluted and gold gilded crimped base on cup for which Royal Stafford is well known. Virtually perfect condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, staining, other damage or restoration on either piece - they both pass the ping test. There is virtually no wear to gold trim and no wear to the transfer or painted or enamelled areas. They was obviously only sparingly, if ever, used during the holiday season.
Cup measures 2 1/8" tall at sides and 2 5/8" tall to top of handle and 4 7/8" across including handle; saucer is 5 5/8" across. Marked with unusual Royal Stafford mark as shown in the photo with pattern name and decorator squiggles. Please ignore all white spots on all photos caused by camera flash.
