If you are extremely particular then I would say the saucer whilst, looking perfect, appears to possibly be second grade as there's a very faint (hardly visible) line through the back-stamp. Other than that in perfect condition and the gold gilding totally intact too. Royal Grafton Fine Bone China Company, founded by Alfred Bailey Jones during the late part on 19th century, was a large family owned pottery prominent in Staffordshire, England.
Royal Grafton produced fine chinaware for 70 years. The Grafton mark is found on vintage collectible teapots, cups, plates and figurines. Jones & Sons, Longton (1900 - 1971) were eminent china and earthenware manufacturers at the Grafton Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, UK. Alfred Bailey Jones started the business with his two sons and originally named the pottery A.They began using the business name Grafton, borrowed from a nearby school, and added the word Royal when they received a royal warrant from Queen Mary. A B Jones was the mayor of Longton in 1905-6. The Grafton Works was built in 1900 in Malborough Road (off Wood Street) in Longton. Alfred Bailey Jones was joined in business by his two sons A. Their father died in 1940 and the business continued under the management of A.
Jones (Jnr) until his death in 1956, his son, Alfred Leslie Jones then managed the business. Sadly in post war England, the company was slow to modernize, and sales fell compared to competitive potteries.Crown House Tableware also owned Dema glass, Denby, Edinburgh Crystal & Thomas Webb Crystal.
